Whenever I hear anyone talk about the live-action Mario movie, people usually talk about how bad it was or that it's one of the worst films of all time. I'd have to say that people are overexaggerating. Is this a good adaptation? Absolutely not, there is barely anything accurate to the games. It this a good movie? eh, it's decent. I'd have to say that I enjoyed it. The acting was really good with Bob Hoskins doing an especially good job. Some of the writing was decent and I found some of the jokes to be funny. Some of the flaws, other than the obvious lack of accuracy, were that the CGI has aged quite poorly. Some of the characters seemed to get forgotten at points as well and there were some inconsistencies within the story. The scene of the Twin Towers disappearing has also aged horribly. Overall, I think that if this movie didn't have any connections to Mario, it probably would have been remembered more fondly. Now we'll just have to wait and see what Illumination's Mario movie is like in comparison.
