Cheesy Reviews

Media Name: Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma The Fourth Plate Media Type: TV Series Season: 4 Episode Count 12 Release Year: 2019 Series Director:  Yoshitomo Yonetani Production Company: J.C. Staff English Networks: Crunchyroll, Toonami Finished Watching: 18th November 2022 My Rating: 4/10 Given the fact that I have given the rest of the show  positive reviews, I expected to also give this one a positive review. Unfortunately, I didn't like this season. This season felt overstuffed with Shokugeki's leaving very little room for slice of life character development. And obviously, more Shokugekis means more of the worst part of the show, the fanservice.. It may seem dumb to complain about fanservice in an ecchi show but there was way too much during this season. Sometimes it felt like Souma's friends were flanderized as well since they felt less like characters and more like just his supporters. I'd have to say though that despite this being a bad season, the last 3 episodes ...

Media Name: Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma The Third Plate Media Type: TV Series Season: 3 Episode Count 24 + 1 OVA Release Year: 2017-2018 Series Director:  Yoshitomo Yonetani Production Company: J.C. Staff English Networks: Crunchyroll, Toonami Finished Watching: 14th November 2022 My Rating: 8/10 The start of this season made me kind of worry that the show was getting repetitive but thankfully the introduction of Central proved me wrong as they brought new opposition to the table that kept it fresh and interesting. I also felt that the Train arc adding in the adults opposing the main characters was fun to watch as well. Azami is also a great villain and helped to increase the cast. I also really liked the OPs. Other than those points, it was partially more of the same from seasons 1 and 2 . My only problems were that Momo's inclusion felt uncomfortable at times and it felt unnatural to end it right in the middle of a new tournament. Overall I really enjoyed this season and I wou...

Media Name: Housing Complex C Media Type: TV Series Season: 1 Episode Count 4 Release Year: 2022 Series Director:  Yūji Nara Production Company:  Akatsuki English Network: Toonami Finished Watching: 31st October 2022 My Rating: 2/10 Going into this anime, i was a bit sceptical since I wasn't sure as to whether it would be good or not. I decided to give it a go anyway since it was only 4 episodes long. It was terrible. There was times when I felt that it was really unintentionally funny such as when there was a lot of fish just dumped outside of the complex. The final episode got really confusing to me and didn't really make much sense. A lot of the characters were really unlikeable with some of them just being plain racist for no reason. The twists were extremely poorly executed and felt forced in. The only good parts were the animation and the English dub acting. Overall, this anime was terrible though I'm glad that it was only 4 episodes long so I didn't spend that lo...

Media Name: Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma The Second Plate Media Type: TV Series Season: 2 Episode Count 13 + 2 OVAs Release Year: 2016 Series Director:  Yoshitomo Yonetani Production Company: J.C. Staff English Networks: Hi-Dive, Toonami Finished Watching: 30th October 2022 My Rating: 8/10 This season contained both more of what I enjoyed and some of what I didn't like from  the first season . The animation, characters and writing were still really good. Not only that but it also featured a new tournament setting which I found to be really fun and added to the season. The new OP and ED were also both great and I enjoyed listening to them. It was also nice to see characters like Alice Nakiri and Akira Hayama get more screen time after only being introduced in the first season. There was also way less ecchi content in this season which I was glad about. Overall, this was a great season and continued to build upon what the first season started.

Media Name: Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma The First Plate Media Type: TV Series Season: 1 Episode Count 24 + 2 OVAs Release Year: 2015 Series Director:  Yoshitomo Yonetani Production Company: J.C. Staff English Networks: Hi-Dive, Toonami Finished Watching: 17th October 2022 My Rating: 8/10 I originally decided not to watch this anime since it's ecchi and I don't like ecchi anime. That was until one of my friends told me it wasn't that bad in terms of content and he was right. I ended up really enjoying it. I really liked each of the characters and felt they were well-written. The music was really good with both OPs and EDs being really catchy. I felt that a lot of the jokes landed and I found them to be really funny. The animation looked great especially when they were cooking with the food looking on-par with Studio Ghibli food (unironically not as in the "How does Studio Ghibli always make food look delicious" meme). I also found myself to be really addicted to ...

Media Name: Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun Media Type: TV Series Season: 2 Episode Count 12 Release Year: 2022 Series Director:  Masayuki Kojima Production Company: Kinema Citrus English Networks: Hi-Dive, Toonami Finished Watching: 2nd October 2022 My Rating: 8/10 I only got to watching the first season and the third movie in preparation for this season and I would say that I loved them. I would have to say that this season was probably the weakest part of the show for me so far but I still enjoyed it. The writing and characters were both really good with the new characters also being nice additions to the cast. The animation was really good with even the CGI looking nice (though a bit jarring at first). The usage of gore in the series paired with horror continued to be really well done. Some of the issues with this season were that there was way less horror and gore than in the first season and the movie. Another problem was that there was quite a bit of...

Media Name: Genndy Tartakovski's Primal Media Type: TV Series Season: 2 Episode Count 10 Release Year: 2022 Creator: Genndy Tartakovski Production Companies: Cartoon Network Studios, Williams Street  Original Network: [adult swim] Finished Watching: 17th September 2022 My Rating: 9/10 I first watched season 1 around when the first season had aired half of its episodes and I absolutely loved it just like I did for some of Genndy Tartakovski's other shows like Samurai Jack and Sym-Bionic Titan. So when I heard that there was gonna be a second season, I was really hyped and I would have to say that it definitely delivered. I enjoy shows which utilize gore quite a bit without forcing it and I'd say this season definitely succeeded with that. The characters were also really good in the series even though there was barely any English dialogue. The episode "The Primal Theory" was really bizarre and out of place but still a great episode nonetheless. The animation was a...
