My Rating: 6.5/10

This was the first of the One Piece movies which I had to watch so I was looking forward to seeing what Toei could do with a movie based on the series. I'd have to say that this was good but not really the best. I was surprised by how short this movie was given that it is actually less than an hour long. I really liked the animation in this and found it to be really entertaining to watch. The characters were also as well-written as in the main show itself. The action was really good though. I'd have to say that the short runtime really held it back especially since it took around 20 minutes for the plot to progress. The main villain felt like an average villain and actually weaker than most of the ones in the series itself. The plot was also not really that interesting to me either. Overall, while I enjoyed this movie, I would have to say that it was a bit disappointing to say it was the first movie in the series.
