Given that this was the first TV special from One Piece, I was looking forward to it to see what Toei could do with an extended episode. I would have to say that I was disappointed. The plot was really not interesting with it feeling quite generic, same with the new characters who feel exactly like some of the other new characters from filler episodes. The ending was also quit underwhelming as well. The animation was nowhere near as good as in the show and could feel at times like a PowerPoint presentation. I did find some of the jokes to be funny though along with the character writing for the Straw Hats. Overall, I didn't like this special and I found it to be quite disappointing.

I would have to say that this is a really good movie that's not for me. The writing was really good and I felt that the chemistry between Neal and Del was really good. I found some of the jokes to be really funny as well. I also found some of the scenes to be emotional. When I heard that they were making a prequel focused on Tohru's parents, I was really excited for it. I finally got around to watching it when it got put on Crunchyroll. I was a bit disappointed that part of it was a recap though I'm glad that the recap only lasted 30 minutes. The recap did feel largely like it was only there to fill time though.
