Planes, Trains and Automobiles Review

Image
Media Name: Planes, Trains and Automobiles Media Type: Movie Release Year: 1987 Director:  John Hughes Production Companies:  Hughes Entertainment Distributor:  Paramount Pictures Runtime: 1 hour 32 minutes Finished Watching: 4th December 2022 My Rating: 8/10 I ended up watching this movie since my dad said that it was "Christmassy" despite being set at Thanksgiving. I would have to say that this is a really good movie that's not for me. The writing was really good and I felt that the chemistry between Neal and Del was really good. I found some of the jokes to be really funny as well. I also found some of the scenes to be emotional. This might be personal bias because I grew up with the show, but I found The Flintstones scene to be really funny. There were some flaws that prevented me from enjoying the movie as much as I wanted to though. I found it to be really slowly paced to the point of where it felt like it was on for way longer than 90 minutes. While Neal being a je...

Half-Life 2: Lost Coast Review

Image
Media Name: Half-Life 2: Lost Coast Media Type: Video Game Release Year: 2005 Developer:  Valve Publisher: Valve Played on: PC Completion Status: 100% Finished Playing: 2nd December 2022 My Rating: 8/10 Despite this essentially being a tech demo for HDR made out of a scrapped section of Half-Life 2 , I still decided to play this anyway in between Half-Life 2 and Episode 1. I would have to say that I enjoyed this. The graphics have aged really well and still look beautiful. It was also fun as another level in Half-Life 2 which makes sense given that it was originally meant to be for the game. It was also fun to listen to the developer commentaries and hear insights on the game's development. Basically the only problems were that it was really easy (mostly because enemies can't attack you while listening to the commentaries) and really short. Other than that, this was a great tech demo and I'm glad that I decided to play it.

Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights Review

Image
Media Name: Eight Crazy Nights Media Type: Movie Release Year: 2002 Director:  Seth Kearsley Production Companies: Columbia Pictures, Happy Madison Productions Distributor: Sony Pictures Releasing Runtime: 1 hour 26 minutes Finished Watching: 2nd December 2022 My Rating: 2.5/10 Even though this is a Hanukkah movie, I still decided to watch this as the first Christmas movie of 2022 just to see how bad it was. It was terrible. For one thing, there was way too much gross out humour in the movie which could make it uncomfortable to sit through. The writing was also really bad. The characters were also awful. The songs were awful despite being memorable. The majority of the jokes also did not land. The animation was really good though and a few of the jokes were funny. Overall, this movie was awful and I can see why people hate it.

Half-Life 2 Review

Image
Media Name: Half-Life 2 Media Type: Video Game Release Year: 2004 Developer:  Valve Publisher: Valve Played on: PC Completion Status: Any% Finished Playing: 2nd December 2022 My Rating: 9/10 Given how much I liked the first Half-Life game , I was excited to play the second mainline entry in the series . I would have to say that it certainly lived up to my expectations. The controls were great and even better than in the first game. The story was a great continuation as well. I also really liked the music but I wish that it didn't cut out every time you entered a new area. I liked the weapon selection as well. I had a lot of fun playing this game and though there were very few bad things about it, the game wasn't perfect. The friendly AI got in the way quite a lot throughout the game. I also found that grenades sometimes bounced too much meaning that it was sometimes difficult to blow up my target. I was also confused by which ammo drops are for which weapons sometimes. Other th...

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Review

Image
Media Name: She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Media Type: TV Series Season: 1 Episode Count 9 Release Year: 2022 Creator:  Jessica Gao Production Company: Marvel Studios Original Network: Disney+ Finished Watching: 1st December 2022 My Rating: 3/10 Going into this show, I heard nothing but negativity about it and I would have to say that, the hate for this show is justified. The CGI on She-Hulk herself is really ugly and looks like a meme edit. Quite a lot of the dialogue and humour was cringeworthy, especially the twerking post-credits scene. Some of the episodes could be quite boring to watch as well. Jennifer Walters could also be quite annoying as well. The writing was sometimes bad as well. Basically the only redeeming qualities were that we got to see what happened to the Abomination 14 years after The Incredible Hulk left his fate ambiguous and a year after he had a brief appearance in Shang-Chi. I also liked the Daredevil episode and thought that the finale was decent. It also...

One Piece Season 1 Review

Image
Media Name: One Piece Media Type: TV Series Season: 1 Episode Count 61 Release Year: 1999-2001 Series Director:  Kōnosuke Uda Production Company: Toei Animation English Networks: Crunchyroll, FoxBox, Toonami Finished Watching: 20th November 2022 My Rating: 9/10 This was the first season of One Piece that I watched and I would have to say that it was a strong introduction. I really liked the animation, especially within the fight scenes. The writing was also really good throughout each arc. The music is also great. I would have to say that the arc that I enjoyed the most was the Arlong Park Arc which had some of the best scenes out of this entire season. I really like the characters as well, especially Usopp. Basically the only problems that I didn't really like the start of the Syrup Village Arc since I don't really like "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" stories (though I think that it improved as it went on). There were also some times where Sanji (despite being really cool ...
