My Rating: 9/10

I first watched both adaptations of Fruits Basket last year and I would have to say that the 2019 adaptation is one of my favourite anime of all time. When I heard that they were making a prequel focused on Tohru's parents, I was really excited for it. I finally got around to watching it when it got put on Crunchyroll. I was a bit disappointed that part of it was a recap though I'm glad that the recap only lasted 30 minutes. The recap did feel largely like it was only there to fill time though. In terms of the actual movie itself, I loved it. I really enjoyed the storyline. Just like the series, the animation was fantastic. It was also really nice to see the past of Kyoko who we've only seen snippets of in flashbacks. It could also get extremely emotional at times which I think helped to give it more depth and give a new outlook on Kyoko as a character. The ending scene showing what happened after the end of the anime was also nice. Pretty much the only bad thing about the main movie was that the age gap between Kyoko and Katsuya felt quite weird sometimes but other than that and the recap, it was a fantastic movie that I will definitely watch again and I hope TMS adapts Fruits Basket Another.
